Capital Campaign
Tonight the Burnsville City Council shut down our plans to move to a new building in Burnsville. By a vote of 3 to 2, the Council denied our request for a PUD that would have cleared the way for us to begin the process of purchasing the former Maxsun Furniture Building.
While the news is disappointing, it's not the end of the road for us. We'll be back at work first thing tomorrow morning, making plans to find a new home - whether here in Burnsville or in another community - that will allow us to grow and expand the work we love.
So many of you have stood by us on this long journey, and many more are new to our cause. Whether you took time to call or email a Council member, attend a meeting, write a letter to the editor or make a donation, never doubt that your efforts made a difference.
While this door has been closed, I'm confident another will open. We continue to be committed to our mission of preventing animal suffering through shelter, adoption, education, collaboration and community outreach; and to strengthening the relationship between people and companion animals.
Again, thank you for your tireless support. We couldn't have come this far without you. Together, we can keep our promise to provide a safe haven for our animal friends.
Thank you.
Please make sure to call or email those city council members that where in support of our request:
